News Headlines from SPACE.com

My name is David Nash and this is my web page. Here you will find the results of my "adventures in astrophotography". I use webcams and dedicated astronomy CCD cameras, as well as film and digital SLR cameras and a variety of telescopes.
astro montage

I live in Cambridgeshire in England in a small village fairly close to average size towns, but where the sky is dark enough to have a good view and make astronomy worthwhile.
I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures!

M81 and M82 galaxy pair

Picture of the Month
This month's picture is a wide field showing the irregular "Cigar Galaxy" (M82) and the spiral "Bode's Galaxy" (M81). It was composed with Hydrogen Alpha data in added to the red channel. These two galaxies each gain something in H-alpha, M81 showing numerous red (star-forming?) regions, and M82 spectacular "outbursts" from the centre (see http://www.weblore.com/richard/m82_exploding_galaxy.htm").
