25 March, 2007 After adjusting the collimation of the telescope, this is my best image this year of Saturn, although it still has a lot of room for improvement.
For this image I used the TouCam on my C8 with a 2x Barlow lens and Baader infra-red blocking filter. The image during capture was very dim, and even with gain at 100% I had a reading of only 100 (out of 255) on the K3CCDTools meter.
The image was enlarged during processing.
Details:
  • ToUCam Pro 740 in non-raw colour optimised mode
  • Baader UV-IR blocker.
  • Celestron C8 with 2x Barlow lens.
  • Exposure: 1/25s
  • Gain: 100%
  • Gamma: 30%
  • Brightness: 50%
  • Frames stacked: 1000 out of 8500 captured

25 March, 2007 For this image I stacked around 500 out of 2000 frames captured. It was captured at the same time as the image above, although the settings were slightly different. The imaging equipment was the same, however.
For both these images, the planet's disk is rendered quite well, but the Cassini division isn't defined very well -- although it's better than in my earlier images from this year.
